lacuna (2021)
"lacuna" is an experimental feminist documentary that provides critique on the control and suppression of femme narratives and lived-truths. Femme identifying artists are consistently muted, exploited, and/or abused inside artistic system that are still primarily facilitated by and for cis white heteronormativity. Societal norms and accepted behaviours continue to curb and oppress the narratives of women and femmes, particularly within the art world. Told via an autotheoretical lens and a mosaic of popular culture, music, and film fragments, "lacuna" traverses the interval between the experience of “I” and a global feminist issue by ruminating over the cavities that patriarchal ideologies and abuses of power leave in the fabric of the individual artist, as well as the collective of women and femmes in artistic institutions.
